TNT: If 60,001 people show up...

Here's a somewhat unnerving quote about our lovely new Narrows bridge from an article in today's News Tribune:

The bridge is designed to comfortably carry a load of at least 9 million pounds, either traffic or people. Moore ran calculations for different weights of people and figured the bridge could hold 60,000 people weighing an average of 150 pounds.


They're referring to the opening ceremony and are already estimate between 20-40K people showing up. I'm sure that 60K figure is an underestimate but that such a number would be so relatively low seems slightly unsettling.

Nevertheless, I'll be at the opening day festivities and, if the bridge takes a tumble, will grab some photos to share. ;)
