No bicycles at bridge opening

Bicyclers beware: doesn't look like you're welcome to ride across the bridge on opening day. From the DOT's website:
Do not bring alcohol, fireworks, weapons, skates, rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, large rolling coolers, large packages or other large items onto the bridge deck. There is no storage for these items so please leave them at home. There's a Wheelmens' ride across the bridge at 3:45pm but that's it. So if you're planning to attend, drive on over to TCC and take a shuttle over to the festivities. See you there! |

by KevinFreitas on 7/16/2007 @ 12:03pm | It was a really amazing day IMHO. Posted lots of pics here and here. Everyone seemed in awe of the new structure and deservedly so. Large scale public works projects like this don't come along very often and, if nothing else, it's worth honoring the men and women who put the thing together if not just to have a great excuse to have some local pride.
It was a simple event/day and I'm happy the bridge(s) were the centerpiece of it all. |
