Thanks for the requirements E, from the looks of it my suspicions are correct that HH may in fact be in need of recipients at least for the Harbor project and may have lowered their own standards to place folks in homes at least in this particular situation. @ jenyum, I don't see what you find so flooring? the deserving families I am aware of either were a single working mom or a family with a disabled spouse. I guess I didn't realize one spouse could just not work and bamm just like that you qualify. More »

Are you saying this family of 4 has more than $34,050 in annual income that would qualify them for a Habitat home, or just that you think that they should, if this no account female would just get a job and place her kids in subsidized day care? (thus, no longer "scamming the system") These deserving families that you have seen, what qualifies them as deserving, in a way that the mother of your child is not? More »

In addition (no I am not done) Habitat for Humanity is not giving anything away. Applicants have to pay a down payment, make mortgage payments, and invest sweat equity in building the house. More »

" I was not under the impression that jobs are super easy to come by lately, or that there is a real oversupply of jobs that are worth never seeing your kids for, assuming you've got a working spouse who can keep everyone clothed and fed.I have heard a lot about a lack of involved parents, though.
