Dear members of Tacoma’s arts and culture community, The Chair of the Tacoma Arts Commission, Robin Echtle, has requested that we inform you of an upcoming discussion regarding policy that will affect the arts in Tacoma. At the March 12th meeting of the Tacoma Arts Commission, there will be an open discussion regarding the currently known impacts to the City’s arts budget, including impacts to funding, staffing, and programs such as Art at Work Month and Spaceworks Tacoma. Maybe if we hadn't wasted all that money on the Reconciliation Park boondoggle we wouldn't have had to cut back the arts programs so severely. For what it's worth, most of the tasks you listed could be handled by volunteers. More »

Thanks for the advice, I had a great nap, and I dreamed of a solution to Naomi's employment problem! Each person who has been touched by her professionalism ( artists and non-artists alike) could donate $1000 to the city of Tacoma and note that the money is to go for this program. More »
