Anyone know about "Famous" 6th Avenue Tomato?

I was researching history of my property and the second owner told me that it used to be a farm then a tomato nursery, then a rhodie nursery. It was home to the "Famous 6th Avenue Tomato" still available in nurseries....never heard of it...does anyone remember this farm?

I believe that's before my Tacoma time but sounds fascinating. I'll be interested to hear what you learn!

Kevin, check out this address:

H.J. Heinz Company, L.P. 357 6th Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222

I was thinking 6th avenue referred to Tacoma, maybe it refers to the Heinz Company...

Received coupons back from Heinz, thank you very much! However they do not know anything about the Famous 6th Ave Tomato....however I did find out from a local Tacomian, who grew up in the area of UP before it was a city...he said the farm was owned by a "Gunder Leland", and it stretched as far down from Mountain View...down to the water. Does anyone remember this?
