Wednesdays on the Water in Tacoma

by AP

Tonight's the night. It's not just for sailboats any longer. It's not your grandmother's Wednesday night. This is serious business. I'm tired of everyone ignoring me. Why don't you (yes, YOU) get off your backside and do something with yourself after work tonight. Head down to Ruston Way and take in some fresh air before dinner. Heck, you can even have dinner while you're there if you like. Bring your dog. Bring your camera. It's officially the first unofficial Wednesday on the Water, tonight. Wednesday, April 25th, 2007. Be there or be left behind in a cloud of destiny.

"A cloud of destiny"

Is that what that smell is? I thought it was RR's aroma demon.

Unfortunately there's no "after work" for me. Have fun!

RR was surprisingly not in attendance this evening. His aroma demon, on the other hand, was out in force. We enjoyed a rather gloomy night with lots of sailboats and calm water. Not another kayak in sight - just the 2 of us. Wednesday on the Water was out of control. I counted about 14 people down on Ruston over a 2 hour period. That's what I'm talking about Tacoma! "So you're telling me there's a chance...."

Well, I'm now over the fact that I have back-to-back comments on more than one topic here. The kayaking population of Tacoma appears WEAK at best, based on the utter lack of performance on this topic. Are you kidding me? Even if you're way too cool to kayak with strangers on something as mundane as Commencement Bay, at least you could jump on here and say so. Instead you cower in your worthless corner, wimpy and shy, afraid to join in the fray of conversation. Funny thing: I see kayaks and kayak racks on cars all over this town - where are all of you? Is it simply that you are so granola you have forbidden yourself from the computer now as well as your TV? Gimme a break, Tacoma. I never would have guessed that it would have come to this.

I'll see you out on the water tonight. Or not.

Sorry AP. I'll post! :) Once we're done watching Tivo'd Planet Earth episodes with our friends maybe we'll take our Wed. night get togethers down to the water. We'll probably only be on the shores though. Hope to try Kayaking this year.

We were down near the water last night at the Spar. Gotta say I'm not one for huge, fair weather crowds down on Ruston Way. I prefer it when it's raining -- nice 'n quiet. ;)

Thank you, Kevin. I feel much, much better after reading your comments. I also prefer the fair- to sketchy-weathered evenings on Ruston Way. Last night was a bit too crazy with the overzealous "oh my god, it's sunny!" crowd out in force. Tonight will be perfect, as the "cruising" scene should be subdued and institutionalized by overcast skies.

My rant is over. Mr. Freitas hath rescued the Tacoma kayaking population from any furth slander at this time. But, there's always next week..........

Heading down to the water.. I'll see you all on Ruston Way tonight.

Very hard to believe what I'm witnessing. It's been almost a month and not one person with a kayak has responded. Although nobody seems to give a rip, I'll be out on the water tonight for everybody's favorite weekly Tacoma event: Wednesdays on the Water. Sailboats, sun, and summer solstice! Umm... yippee?

Been almost a year since I gave up posting this event. Here's a last-minute note to remind people that Wednesdays on the Water are alive and well. See you all behind Harbor Lights. 6-ish. Bring your favorite boat, life preserver, surfboard, etc.

Tonight? Oye. I'll be on the elliptical getting my ass in some kind of shape other than not. Will join in some upcoming Wednesday...

It was brought to my attention just hours ago that I was slated to do this. Wish I'd had more notice myself! Damn memory.

Glad you have that new memory augmentation device (e.g. your new Crackberry). Just don't drop it in the drink tonight, mmmkay?

Roger that! Bon voyage.
