So ride 3 turned into a few people riding around the tideflats on an epically hot day, which means we still have the bridge ride on the plate at some point. However, Mr. Freitas has mentioned he might tag along this weekend if we weren't doing something too huge, so that might mean not the bridge thing.

Any thoughts? Weather looks to be sunny and 75. I am moving this weekend, but can take a couple hours off for a ride around town either day.

I'm not much for determining worthy bike routes but will be interested to see what y'all come up with. I'd do Pt. D again, too.

Also a valid point: we don't necessarily have to do something new.

Im up for a bike ride, too. Someone told me about the bridge over to the tide flats in Puyallup was nice and casual, but it sounds like ya'll have done that one. This may require more planning, but the Orting trail is awesome, and easy. I would say we would need to block off at least 4 hours to do that one including the drive to get there.

im up for any route.

I don't know what exactly they did around the tide flats... you'd have to ask Heather or d0ug. I'd definitely be up for something east and south, since everything's been north and west so far.

Maybe neighborhood rides? Meet at a neighborhood store/park/bar/restaurant and go from there? If a hilltop ride comes thru, me and the kid might grace the ride with our new murdered-out bike/trailerbike combo.

We tend to end at neighborhood bars... ride number 2 ended at The Red Hot (first ride was out at five mile drive, and ended at the Goldfish)

Anybody up for riding the 509 to Dash Point on Saturday? 13.1 miles each way, with chillin' at the beach in between. I don't really know the ride so I don't know the hill situation, but I've been told its not too bad... certainly some work, but doable.

all uphill basically thats a deathride

by izenmania on 7/31/2008 @ 8:48am
Ew. Maybe not then. It's not a road I've really ever been on, to my knowledge, so I couldn't rightly say. I know that people ride it. But those people are probably in much better shape than me.

Wherever you end up going, watch out for Patrick O'Callahan. Um, WTF?

by thriceallamerican on 7/31/2008 @ 2:59pm
Too late for me to remove my post, but Patrick removed the linked article and emailed me personally agreeing that it had been in bad taste...

For reference, it was a picture of a car hitting a pack of bicyclists, with some sort of Critical Mass related comment that I probably would misquote if I attempted.

Anyway, good on Patrick for rethinking...

by izenmania on 7/31/2008 @ 3:18pm
It was "Take that, Critical Mass!"

by KevinFreitas on 7/31/2008 @ 3:47pm
Was it this one?

Let's have none of that on any FT rides.

by thriceallamerican on 7/31/2008 @ 4:02pm
Yup. Hurts to look at.

Well obviously didn't do Dash Point today. I just rode about town on my own, as I had various things to do... did ride from The Red Hot to Comic Book Ink (6th and Pine to 72nd and Portland), which was my "big ride" for the week... all told today I will have done about 19 miles. Which hits my goal of doing 50 miles over the course of the week.

Hopefully next week we can finally actually get around to crossing the bridge. In the meantime, Doug and I were talking about doing some relatively unplanned neighborhood after-work rides, starting in our neighborhood (around 15th and Cedar) and going... wherever.

still down for rides! available most weekdays after 5, most weekends.
