with no drawing skills and all the topics on chalking on feedtacoma i got inspired to see how well it would translate into pixels.
end result is comical and disappointing :( maybe if i had a better surface and chalk?

by Erik on 7/10/2008 @ 8:26pm | You have a good idea there.
chalk is not 8bit
With more contrast between chalk colors and a greater volume of chalk put down, I think your idea would work quite well. |

by d0ug on 7/10/2008 @ 8:35pm | is there a source of non-pastel colored chalk in tacoma? |

by KevinFreitas on 7/10/2008 @ 8:58pm | Hey d0ug -- that's a pretty sweet Link, if you ask me. I say stop by Frost Park tomorrow at noon and pick some of the artists' brains. They always seem to have some seriously vibrant stuff.
Where'd you lay this one down? |

by d0ug on 7/10/2008 @ 9:03pm | work prevents me from making it to any of the frost park events :(
link is out in my back yard. |

by d0ug on 7/16/2008 @ 8:05pm | i located some better brighter chalk at uw bookstore.
i had idea to lace a wooden frame with string into a pixely grid dust it with powdered construction snap line chalk and drop the frame leaving an imprint of the grid onto the concrete. i cant source string that will embrace the chalk for the purpose :(
manually making the grids is boring. |
