The place is gorgeous and the cupcakes are even better. We stopped by this morning during their soft opening and will be back, I'm sure, many, many times.

by cassioposa on 8/30/2007 @ 1:22pm | It was delicious!! My favorite is the red velvet, but I'm a bit biased towards that flavor to begin with. I'll try and have a fun video of our first bites up sometime soon! |
by Erik on 8/30/2007 @ 8:19pm | Looks like the blogger world covered it pretty well. In-tacoma.net has got a great movie of the pre-opening that is worth seeing. I got a preview of a second movie that they have cued up as well. |
by KevinFreitas on 8/30/2007 @ 9:09pm | Did you get a chance to try them out Erik? |
by ensie on 8/30/2007 @ 9:10pm | Carrot cake all the way - absolutely fabulous! The icing is absolutely perfect - just sweet enough and not overly gluey the way some can get. I'm sure I'll be back again this weekend. |

No. Sorry. I missed the flah mob wave there. (sorry ensie. :) We are still waiting for your new term) |
by KevinFreitas on 8/31/2007 @ 6:46am | Just a few of us (like 5, hardly a mob) got together to enjoy the deliciousiousity. I agree about the carrot cake -- it's incredible. I'll probably pick up another dozen to take down to my folks' house this weekend. |
by KevinFreitas on 8/31/2007 @ 8:54am | Best... video... ever. |
by jenyum on 8/31/2007 @ 9:05am | Enough of the delicious chocolatey nemesis. You all are killing me. |
by Erik on 8/31/2007 @ 9:32pm | They ran out today by 2:30 p.m. and I heard re-loaded. The scarcity is causing a frenzy.
Todd and I went there today. We were the only ones ordering just one cupcake, the rest were by the dozen we saw. |
by ensie on 9/1/2007 @ 3:16pm | There at 2:30 today and they were almost out. They were hoping to stay open. Delicious as usual King Friday. |
by Erik on 9/1/2007 @ 9:47pm | Grit City (a flawless news source) reports re: Hello Cup Cake: I made it back down there before 6, and one worker said the shop sold about 300 cupcakes Thursday, during the soft opening, and about 500 cupcakes during the grand opening Friday. They ran out both days. I wonder if they made enough today (Saturday). 500 cupcakes is alot. Thats over 40 dozen. Plus, they missed out selling a least a few hundred by being closed. Wow. I drove down Pacific today and could see several people walking down the road (gleefully) with boxes. I swear there is some sort of cupcake panic brought on through some combination of shortage scare and Tragedy of the Commons. I wonder how many they will make tomorrow? Are they open tomorrow or Monday? If they don't open until Tuesday, will they make enough. If not, when will they run out? Will they run out before we go to get our share? Is it fair some people are buying whole boxes of cupcakes while some people are not even being to get one before they run out? Can someone get there earlier to reserve some for the rest of us? Update. They are closed on Sunday but open on Labor Day 11 to 5 p.m. Check our their opening day photos. Looks like Kevins meet up group is featured. hello-cupcake.com/photogallery/photo1798... |
by KevinFreitas on 9/2/2007 @ 12:16pm | We picked up another dozen yesterday to bring down to Vancouver. They were a hit at dinner with my folks, uncle, and their friends. Long live the cupcake! |
