Red Hot Movie Night will be showing Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story in a public screening according to a feedTacoma Event listing. This raises an issue. How was the Red Hot able to secure a license to use this copyrighted material in a public showing? If you're showing DVDs in a commercial business for the purpose of attracting customers you normally need to stick to Public Domain material. PD movies are the type they sell at the dollar store with the funky-looking covers. The Red Hot owners might want to run this promotion by an attorney before continuing.

by KevinFreitas on 4/6/2008 @ 1:54pm | Wow, low blow. Nice to see Tacomans sticking together. I say play on. There are plenty of spots around town with TVs on that probably don't have perm to show anything on TV in a public place. |
