What happened to the street parking?

Trying to find some street parking in the area surrounding Tacoma General Hospital I was struck by the extensive used of yellow "permit-only" parking zones in residential zones. I have always been under the impression that these streets were paid for by the taxpayers. Apparently, now that TG offers Valet parking, they don't want to compete with any other-wise free and equally convienent competition. |
 by KevinFreitas on 3/19/2008 @ 9:25am | Yea, especially with construction parking is pretty brutal around there. If I'm anywhere within a 3 block radius I'll just grab one and hike the rest of the way in. Either that or I'll buy me a Smart ForTwo and park in any available half spots. |

Yes, overuse of the "permit only" parking areas is bad because it reduced the pool of available parking and the areas are often vastly underutilized. |
