Politicians are giddy over the thought of new parking garages all over the South Sound and the idea that we need to expand highways 1 or 2 more lanes is frequently being discussed. We need leaders who can get a grip! These politicians need to watch Kunstler's video "End of Suburbia" before they squander any more tax money on these projects.
According to Kunstler, ownership and use of automobiles and SUVs for job commuting is about to enter a declining period. The speed of the decline is unknown but it is definite and irreversable. Therefore, the parking garage and highway widening funds would be better applied to increasing the density of urban centers like Tacoma.
