Japanese Reconciliation Park...how much longer must we wait?

In 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt signed executive order 9066 which caused Japanese Americans to be uprooted from the homes in the Tacoma/Pierce County area for no reason other than their unfortunate ethnicity.

Will the Tacoma City Council address this unfortunate event by building a Japanese Reconciliation Park? To observe the Chinese removals and not observe the Japanese removals seems a bit ill considered.

The standard policy is that a century must have passed before guilt-based compensentory measures can be instituted- therefore, no Japanese Reconciliation Park until at least 2045.

The Japanese Reconciliation park needs to be in Puyallup. The land where the fairground currently is also happens to have been a relocation camp.

That's why it's so appropriate that the Washington Arms Collectors meet there.

Boe,
Thanks, I came to say the same thing. Who says this city isn't responsive?
A few hours to grant Fredo's wish.

That's all good fellows, thanks for the update.  I'm a bit concerned that the Japanese memorial isn't getting the press it needs. Better you change the name from Japanese Language School Memorial to Japanese Reconciliation Park. This would make the installation have a higher "perceived" value and probably free up some donation dollars. Maybe we could even take some of those Chinese Reconciliation Dollars and use them to seed the Japanese Reconciliation Project. Oh and thanks for granting my wish. I'll have to dust off my complete list.

How is that huge Asian cultural center project looking?  Any updates from Boe/Marty?

If the Japanese memorial is half as good-looking as the Chinese one is, I'll be pleased.
