Rosewood. Reuben.

Maybe it was the ambience, and/or the pints, but at the Rosewood I just had the best Reuben I've had in this century. As you know, there's no Reuben on the regular menu. But I have it on good authority that Barry caves to pressure, so JCB, Bennet, Jen, et al, please apply pressure because the Reuben Special's probably only on a few more days.

Whoa - a great reuben???!!! I have had "average" reubens here in Tacoma.

Dave - where is this magical "Rosewood" place? I've seen the sign a million times but no visualisation of it's location pops into my mind.

Also - have you posted this to the tacoma sandwich section of exit 133?

Ok, here we go. I love Reubens and had a great one at the Antique once.

'Chords, the place wasn't on my radar until recently, too. It suddenly appears on N. 26th, between Proctor and the 76 Station at Alder (which Cedar becomes at S. 9th). Yesterday the soup was a Salmon Chowder, I think. I hope the Reuben doesn't disappoint. The best one I've had was at the old Kellys, and most since have been as you say, average at best. The Pale Ale didn’t hurt.

Rosewood Cafe has really got the restaurant business down. Great food at a steal and they are pretty unique in not having a dedicated bar but they do have a slew of great wines and beers. Also, "family friendly" without being a zoo.

$5 large pour Malbecs (when they are the special) are about the best wine deal in Tacoma

Oh, and the are one of the places that carry Pont 21.

Rosewood's a great place to sit down and have a conversation and a drink.

Try the Reuben at MSM Deli... it's fscking brilliant.

Actually, forget the Reuben and get a Mike's Deluxe. You'll never want to eat a sandwich from anywhere else again.

Thanks; I’ll try MSM next. What’s the consensus on whether it’s right or wrong to use Thousand Island dressing? I think Donna Kelly’s use of it was one reason hers was so good.

I vote for using 1,000 island on a Reuben. Where I'm from (philly) we used to call it "Russian" dressing. I make it at home like so:
equal parts mayo and catchup. a generous helping of sweet pickle relish and a generous pour of Worcestershire.

Heaven.

My MSM sandwich is the Italian Coldcut. That or the meatball, if you're in the mood for a non-coldcut based sammich.

You got your sliced tomatoes,
shredded lettuce, secret sauce.
- What's the secret sauce?
Thousand Island dressing.
-What's the secret sauce at Bronco Burger?
Ketchup and mayonnaise.
-Gotcha.
