Opa! is Open

I drove by this weekend and noticed their "Open" sign was lit. I also noticed not too many cars in the parking lot.

Anyone up for Greek food? Tomorrow? Wednesday?

by KevinFreitas on 8/27/2007 @ 11:43am
Ooo, that's great news jen! Lemme check to see what's going on this week though Wed. seems best off the top of my head.

Where is it?

by KevinFreitas on 8/27/2007 @ 12:06pm
Way out yonder 6th Ave. It's past Pearl across from the shopping center there with Carl's Jr. and near the Brown Bear Carwash.

by ensie on 8/27/2007 @ 12:36pm
I will be at a meeting on Wednesday and unable to attend. :(

by KevinFreitas on 8/27/2007 @ 1:12pm
We talking lunch or dinner? That's a bit too far from the office for me to make a lunch. Thoughts?

by ensie on 8/27/2007 @ 5:32pm
Dinner would work for both Frinklin and I.

by jenyum on 8/27/2007 @ 7:40pm
I could probably do dinner.

by KevinFreitas on 8/28/2007 @ 7:03am
6pm work for everyone?

by jenyum on 8/28/2007 @ 8:31am
6 pm sounds good, I'm going to try to line up a sitter.

I finally found a phone number, I'll give them a call later today and get some info about the menu/give them a heads up if we're sure on the time.

by KevinFreitas on 8/28/2007 @ 8:34am
Brilliant jen, thanks! Anyone else want in before jen gives them a call? Nothing wrong with going separately either (especially if there's a mandatory gratuity for larger groups). I'm cheap, I know. ;)

by jenyum on 8/28/2007 @ 2:12pm
OK, I had to be sort of vague about it, since I'm not sure of the interest.

I made a reservation for 5 (ensie, frinklin, kevin, sarah, and me, since those are the people who have spoken up) for 6:00 tomorrow night, and said there may be a few more in our party. The reservation is under "Jennifer," if anyone gets there before I do.

I also told them this was being discussed online and that more people may decide to come tomorrow night.

They have their menu online. You have to click down to each individual type of item to see it, but it's all there, including prices. Dress is casual.

Anything I'm leaving out? Let me know! See you tomorrow night.

Oops, I almost forgot to mention. No wine or beer yet.

by ensie on 8/29/2007 @ 12:07am
I will definitely be there. My bad though - Frinklin will be at rehearsals, so I'll be stag. Can't wait to see y'all!

by izenmania on 8/29/2007 @ 2:18pm
How did I not hear about this place until today? Sheesh.

(I'm a Classical Greek nerd, but I'm also slowly assimilating their modern culture in preparation for a trip there next year, and I already love the food, so you can imagine why I'd be excited)

I'll definitely need to give it a go sometime.

by KevinFreitas on 8/29/2007 @ 2:19pm
We'll certainly let everyone know what we think.

by izenmania on 8/29/2007 @ 2:25pm
Oh, I don't doubt it.

by ensie on 8/29/2007 @ 3:12pm
We are such a quiet bunch.

by izenmania on 8/29/2007 @ 3:37pm
Yes. That's exactly what I thought when I first sat down with everyone at the Red Hot. "What a nice mild-mannered, quiet crowd," I thought, "not liable to stir up a fuss about anything."

Yep, yep.

by jenyum on 8/29/2007 @ 3:38pm
Looks like we're down one person on our reservation, if you'd like to come along tonight.

by izenmania on 8/29/2007 @ 4:29pm
Perhaps... I'll talk to the clan Freitas about it.

by cassioposa on 8/29/2007 @ 5:07pm
I prefer reference to us be in the form of "The Freitai" ;-)

by AP on 8/30/2007 @ 8:39am
Troublesome... nothing posted... been over 12 hours since you guys were there... precisely 6 "no comment" stances have been taken thus far...

Until the record is set straight, I'll assume growing pains for Opa!?

by KevinFreitas on 8/30/2007 @ 8:53am
Haha, demanding aren't you, AP? I usually do my blogging in the morning. ;)

Here's my review.

by AP on 8/30/2007 @ 9:38am
Not so much demanding, but rather unwilling to check any other local pages besides the discussion page of Feed Tacoma in the morning. Thanks for the link and the review. Pretty soon (if not already), fledgling restaurateurs will have no choice but to coordinate their openings with your schedule!
