Crown Bar website up
|

Charlie McManus' new spot the Crown Bar now has their website up. Check it out at www.CrownBarTacoma.com. The full menu's there as well as hours and a fun design that grooves nicely with the place itself.
They're opening to the public this Saturday, Sept. 29. |

Their menu makes me hungry. |

Can't wait to go to his new restaurant. |

The menu is very enticing and for $18 I thought that the fried chicken would be wonderful. Instead I received chicken that tasted like it was put in the fryer before the oil was hot - so greasy - then burnt. The mashed potatoes that came with the meal were tasteless and the greens - which were not actually greens but chard - were soaked in grease as well.
My boyfriend ordered the $14 hamburger and would have forgiven the fact that it was a FROZEN Costco burger if it had actually been cooked as requested. We paid extra for cheese which the rude waitress had to point out was the thin mayonnaise like substance on top of the burger. Maybe we should have been clued into the meal that awaited us when upon sitting down and ordering a coke the waitress pressured us to add rum or tequila to our drinks. The Crown Bar is overpriced, the food inedible, and the wait staff rude. Save your money and your taste buds and go someplace else. |

by Erik on 11/12/2007 @ 3:33pm | Wow.
I have been there twice. I love it. The "Bratwurst, grilled bread, curry ketchup" was great. I've heard the currywurst is amazing Yep. Try it. Cheap too. Last night, I tried the "Grilled skirt steak, chipotle ketchup, house fries" which is an economical steak which was very good. Primo Grill and Crown Bar are some of the best bargains in Tacoma in my opinion. There are no views of the water, but they are actually cooking there. Its going to be hard to go back to microwaved and fryer pits Tacoma has been feed for the last few decades. |
by ensie on 11/12/2007 @ 4:30pm | From my experience, Crown Bar isn't getting a great reception. It was practically empty on Friday night at 9 PM. The other restaurants and bars were spilling out onto the street. I was only there one night, so it could have been a fluke.
I think Primo Grill is incredible, but found most of the food ordered at Crown Bar to be average to not-so-good and extremely pricey for supposedly good "street food". Details are in my linked review above. |
