Will Doug Cloud join the Republican Sweep?

by fredo
on 11/1/2010 @ 7:16am
Pollsters are estimating that in tomorrow's midterm election the Republicans could pick up 40 to 60 seats in the house of representatives. It's even possible that Pelosi and her Democrats could lose their power to control business.

Given that the Republicans are going to be back in power wouldn't it be better for voters in our area to put Doug Cloud into office? Dicks is going to lose a lot of his influence once he's a member of the minority party.

If you need another reason to vote for Cloud, consider this. The Puget Sound Partnership which has been mired in controversy, has been the subject of numerous whistle blower complaints and spent the public's money like a drunken sailor is headed by none other than (drum roll please) norm's little boy...David Dicks. When will the somnambular democrats in our area wake up to the fact their leaders are ripping off the taxpayers?

tacomic 8-ball prediction for Mr. Cloud: "NOT BLOODY LIKELY"

by jenyum on 11/1/2010 @ 8:03am
What does Doug Cloud stand for, other than smearing Norm Dicks? When I saw him speak that's pretty much all that came out of his mouth.

by jenyum on 11/1/2010 @ 8:04am
Also, Fivethirtyeight puts Dicks' chances at 96.7%

agree that Cloud is unlikely to win but I thought it was worth a discussion. Dicks is unlikely to be a member of the majority party after tomorrow.

and how about some comments about the other topic mentioned: Norm Dicks own son appointed to head the Puget Sound Partnership? Doesn't this strike anyone else as an example of governmental nepotism? Is this what we expect from our leaders, yes or no? Let's give Cloud a chance and elect him tomorrow. He has a cool name, unlike Norman Dicks.

by thriceallamerican on 11/1/2010 @ 10:46am
You kidding? Norman Dicks is an awesome name! (Though I almost mistyped it, making me realize that "Mormon Dicks" would be an even awesomer name.)

by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 11/1/2010 @ 10:48am
Dicks was not impotent when he served during a Republican majority congress.

by fredo on 11/1/2010 @ 10:55am
nobody wants to touch the topic of little Dicks. poor David, he always has been and always will be known as a little Dick.

by thriceallamerican on 11/1/2010 @ 12:10pm
Nobody better tell fredo about Ryan Dicks... Oh, oops...

Seriously, though, nepotism sucks, but the positives far outweigh the negatives with Norm.

by Erik on 11/1/2010 @ 12:28pm
The Republicans even believe Norm will win. That's why they have not put much money into his race.

by fredo on 11/1/2010 @ 2:01pm
Erik, I'm sure you're correct. If Cloud wins tomorrow's election it will be one of the greatest congressional upsets in history.

While there's little doubt that Dicks will win there is an over arching issue that remains undecided. Can our country continue borrowing and spending our way into prosperity? Or are we entering an era where our middle class is decimated and we are left with the wealthy class of Wall St. Executives and Union Laborers and a poor class of private citizens trying to latch onto any government teat available.

"new data reported by the government and a private trade group Monday suggest the economy is growing, albeit at an anemic pace. Some analysts worry that conditions could worsen after the election when government programs that have been propping up the economy end." Seattle Times 11/1/10

Obama's not delivering much "hope," but it looks like he'll definitely be delivering plenty of "change."

by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 11/1/2010 @ 9:06pm
More like the Republicans would not allow Obama to deliver much hope. Why do the Republican hate America?

by fredo on 11/1/2010 @ 9:36pm
Here's some 11th hour election haiku:

Obama had
his shot
and he delivered squat

by NineInchNachos on 11/1/2010 @ 9:49pm
ha ha ha! what a bunch of GOP dung balls!

obama did a ton of stuff. its just that democrats are pussies and cant come up with a better sound bite than the retarded tea-party drivel carl rove and the private priZon industry and cramming down peoples throats in the very most homo-erotic way.

by NineInchNachos on 11/1/2010 @ 9:56pm
tacomic predicts modest republican majority in house and little gains in senate. or maybe a miracle will happen and the Democrats will rally young people. Dems need to get gutsy and vicious... wimpy dems who run away from healthcare reform and taxing should rightly lose.

by fredo on 11/1/2010 @ 9:57pm
"obama did a ton of stuff"

Well he certainly made deft use of his reverse Midas touch. Everything he touched turned to crap.

by NineInchNachos on 11/1/2010 @ 10:05pm
that's a damn dirty lie! he saved america + GM with Bush's bail out. he stuck it to fuck face insurance companies with healthcare reform. HE ENDED THE USE OF FUCKING US of A TORTURE!!!!!!!!!!! he appointed a Supreme Court Judge. He made Hilary Clinton USEFUL! He needs to do more. Yes. so make his job easier. vote YES on Patty Murray.

by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 11/2/2010 @ 2:32pm
Great link. I recommend everyone check it out before voting. All that tea party anger must come down to the fact they can't stand the idea of an African American in the "White" House.

by fredo on 11/2/2010 @ 2:42pm
I saw a picture of Obama's mother. She was as white as Betsy Ross.

by fredo on 11/3/2010 @ 10:28am
My impassioned commentary didn't seem to help Mr. Cloud too much. Nor did it seem to help Mr. Rossi or the yes on I-1100 contest.

Otherwise, everything fell Fredo's way. Thanks voters!

I was a jinkins supporter but offered fey advice on how to weasel his way out of a public relations disaster. people who don't heed fredo's advice proceed at their own peril. ha. well, jake still has his tasselled loafers.
