Caucus Round-up (and after party)

I thought I'd start a thread for folks to put down their thoughts and observations from today's caucus. Like many, I've never participated in a caucus and it would be valuable to record what we learned for folks to find next time around.

Hey, I also know there was talk of getting together after caucusing this afternoon but I didn't hear any definite plans. How 'bout an early dinner over at PSP about 3:30 or 4pm? Plenty of room, choices for everyone, and kids are welcome. After that maybe we can head to hello, cupcake to try out their new chocolate raspberry. Any takers?

PSP at 3:30 sounds good, here-- the kid and I are there :)

I think I'll be there, as well. The PSP part, I mean.

Wow, two automated calls for Hillary (one today and one last night) and one in-person call for Obama today. They're serious about getting this area out to vote. See ya'll in an hour or so!

I realized slightly too late that I had to caucus in UP because I've never gotten round to changing my registration.

Just about to head to PSP. Quick run down from our caucus:

- over 1,000 people showed up, 308 alone in our precinct
- our precinct went for Obama with 16 delegates (of which my wife and I are two) and 11 for Hillary
- a quick survey of other people from different precincts reported similar 2/3 to 1/3 for Obama or, in one, 3 to 1
- saw Mayor Baarsma there, wearing a Barack sticker
- everything ran as smoothly as it could with the number present

Got lots of photos and such to post later. Cheers!

The 2 precincts that shared the gym Obama was leading with 85%-90%.
In my precinct he recieved 12 delegates to Clinton's 3.

Breakdown for 27-313:

Obama - 172 votes and 15 delegates
Clinton - 59 votes and 5 delegates
Uncommitted - 9 votes and 1 delegate

"Mommy, what's wrong with these kids?"

by jcbetty on 2/9/2008 @ 6:37pm
omg, that's classic!! But I think it was more abject horror, "You didn't tell me all these people want a BOY to win the election!!???" -- with me saying, hush, darlin', and I will sing a lullaby (in my lovely, dulcet tones...)

by jcbetty on 2/9/2008 @ 6:41pm
(and, btw-- we in 27-301 sent 3 Clinton, 12 Obama with (numbers are hazy, I didn't write 'em down, as I was multitasking between parenting, knitting, talking, and listening) -- but I'm thinking it went, initially: 97 votes, Obama, 64, Hillary, and 2 Undecided.

Long live the "over 30 college-educated women" demographic, for one day, we will inherit the earth...

Dunno how all other parties feel about putting up their photographs, or I'd share a funny one A. took.

If it's of me and/or my special lady you're probably completely welcome to post. My only hope is that my finger isn't in my nose. ;)

I was too busy preventing Armageddon (or at least, flagrant nose picking) to snap a shot of that end of the table, I'm afraid.

As long as it's not too unattractive of me, feel free to post away. I'm probably in the middle of using profanity around young children or rolling my eyes at someone. Two things I do pretty commonly. I know A. had the camera out for some time. I'll also give clearance for Frinklin.

That is my elbow in the one shot above.

OK, here's a few more.

First off, Wonder Creature was much appreciated by the kids in my precinct

A. took this blurry but cute picture of Frinklin.

and here's ensie and jcbetty

very nice artwork!! And Frinklin has this Colin Mockery (oh, hell, what *is* his last name?) think going on that makes me wanna hug him.

and then...
Says ens to bet: "why yes, they *are* flat boobs!"
(says betty to self: must have upper-lip collagen... oh, wait, I don't give a poop about that stuff...)

In my defense, I'm actually looking at your HANDS. Not your BOOBS. And holy crap - what is my husband doing there?
