Walkway Connecting Foss Waterway Now a Reality

David Boe and other architects, seeking to make Tacoma more livable, have been posting their sketches for better urban design online.

Here was one recently put on Exit 133:

The Dream Of Better Pedestrian Access

I am pleased to report that Boe's vision has now been made a reality.  Today, walking down to the Foss Waterway, I saw the connecting walkway being built:

The Dream Fulfilled

This is a significant positive development as it will shorten the distance required to get to the Foss Waterway by several hundred feet.

One vision project down, a few dozen to go.

In the meantime, consider signing the online petition (paper online)  to remove the WSHM fence in front of the Bridge of Glass.  Removing the fence will shorten the distance greatly to the waterfront permitting direct access.

Looks good. I like the sleek metal construction rather than using cement or some such material.

Yes, which hopefully will look better and not be as brutish as all of the cement overpasses.

What's this about a fence at the museum???

Have we forgotten that when the bridge was built, the city insisted that it be a public space and open to pedestrians 24/7? What happened to that promise?
