custom screen print question
Odd transplant question here...
I am looking for a local screen printer that can do a low yield (only like 9-12) shirt custom one color screen print job for me.
I've looked online and I've found zero local options. I don't want to use an internet vendor if i don't have too but my deadline is coming up and I want to get this taken care of.
If anyone knows the name of a company here in T-Town that would entertain the idea of such a job...please comment away.

by AP on 9/4/2008 @ 5:39pm | I'm not sure how big our order was, but it couldn't have been that big. Maybe Stowe can put a note up here if he called them? I think they're closed now, or I'd call. |

The DIY angle intrigues me... I'd be willing to give it a go. Let me know if you are serious about lending out your supplies. Has anyone actually done DIY screenprinting before? Any horror stories out there? Sounds like an awesome weekend project. |
by Mandiferous on 9/5/2008 @ 8:40am | Yes and no. I tried to make my own screen out of tulle and modpodge (read about it in a magazine--didn't work so well).
So now I just make my own stencils out of freezer paper and dab screen print ink onto them. If you want something that will withstand more than one use, try mylar or maybe vinyl. I've got black and white screen print ink if you want to play around with it. |

It depends on what your goal is. If you are only doing a couple, give DIY a try. Or go to Kinkos and do a transfer. Or go to CafePress.com, upload some artwork, and then anyone who wants one can order one. |
by d0ug on 9/6/2008 @ 11:28pm | im very serious about lending the kit. i used to screen the shirts i wanted but a few poeple on the internet have been making what id wanted to make so ive resorted to just buying them. the kit has just been sitting around so whatever use itd get would be positive. youd have to invest in emulsion most likely, a 150w clear bulb (i have the fixture to power it), and ink (i have black and white available, i think).
theres also picture this. the quality is ok. its a glue that adheres mirrored photocopies to fabric. inexpensive, looks ok but has the cheap ironed on look and isnt very durable through washes. |

If DIY... have Ricki make the film positive for you. If you need help with the shooting screens, printing etc let me know. Is this a simple one color design? We could make it a team Anderson project if you want...we have supplies here. Lemme know, K? |
by AngelaJossy on 9/7/2008 @ 8:49pm | I've always wanted to learn to do that. Maybe Tacoma Art Place would be interested in having a class of some sort and we could have a screen printing party. |
