Solar Richard

please share all your interesting stories / links here. Some day I would like to do a Tacomic about this extraordinary individual... just waiting for the right time. Thanks.

Is this the S 7th & Oakes-ish house? I'm pretty sure I've seen it. I have nothing to contribute here, but would like to know more about it.

He actually takes his power on the road and quite often provides juice for local events. Even if the sun isn't shining he always has banks of solar charged batteries at the ready.

Make sure you put a cigar in his hand in the comic. He has stacks of cigar boxes on his back porch (where the meter runs backwards, of course).

He was open for the Solar Tour a couple of weekends ago so I chatted with him for a few minutes while wandering circuitously home from the barber shop.

There are a bunch of random old phone booths around the property, some recovered from Navy vessels. I guess he has something of a business reselling them.

Oh, also, I believe he has taken to spelling it "SolaRichard".

Last I saw him was at the July dorkbot meeting where he made a presentation. My kids loved it. He rolled out the power supply with "Yesterdays Sun" hand written on a label attached to it and talked about lighting up the Narrows bridge via solar power.
