So, it's ArtWalk time again. And yet again, dozens (hundreds?) of people will walk and drive past Tollefson Plaza toward various museums and galleries with nary a sideways glance toward the big empty concrete wasteland. And why is that? Is it because it's kind of useless? Is it because it's kind of ugly?
DAMN NO.
It is because nothing happens there! Which may be because of those other reasons, but I say TO CRAP WITH THAT. I've never failed to have a good time somewhere just because it was a boring place. I fail to have good times because of boring ACTIVITIES.
So. The place sucks. But we can be awesome in it regardless! My friend Erich and I will be in Tollefson Plaza tonight, circa 7 PM, with 2-3 acoustic guitars, two different hand drum options, even a pair of egg shakers. Want to listen? Come on down! Want to play along? Come on down! Want to draw all over the pristine pale concrete with chalk?
COME. ON. DOWN
Walking is good. Art is good. But that should not be all ArtWalk is for. It should be ArtWalk, ArtRock, ArtDance, ArtMake. So come one, come all to the first monthly Downtown ArtDo.
DO ART. Because art is fun to do.

on 6/19/2008 @ 10:26pm | oh. damn. We rode by on the Link at 9ish and there were just two people left sitting at Tollefson. Too much to do on Thursday nights, especially Artwalk Thursday!! Great complaint to have, right? Dome District was hopping for their Thursday Business District highlight. The Helm was packed. Great night to live in T-town. Definitely lots of feet on the street tonight. |

It was fun... we've been doing something similar in Wright Park about once a week... just sort of outdoor rehearsing. Nobody really stopped for long, but there were a lot of passers-by and we got photographed a couple times, I think. |
