Scott Fontaine's Word on the Street blog joined the FeedTacoma community of nearly 50 blogs today. His reporting from South Tacoma and the eastside will help add some great new perspectives to FeedTacoma. Thanks to Scott and his employer the TNT, keep up the good work, and welcome!

Nice. I predict RR will post Scott Tacomic within the hour.

Scott,

Since the TNT has access to alot of the felony placement information in Pierce County, would you consider placing the information on your site monthly as a graph or at least giving an updated count each month.. See the TNT Editorial blog.

Thanks.

A Google Map might do better but I would consider that working best for them on the Lights & Sirens blog. Or, any intrepid visitor to this site who's a lawyer and also a blogger might have time to create a custom map... ;)

Yes, locations of releasees is good information. However, the comparative numbers of releases with other counties is the really the critical factoid to watch.

That would be something more for our crime reporters (and, as Kevin said, the Lights and Sirens blog).

And I should point out that the TNT doesn't actually have any more access to the information than any other individual or organization does. It's all public record.

From what I understand, though, it's not like the Department of Corrections just releases the information once a month. A records request must be filed to get the info, and even then I'm not sure what form it comes in.

Our editorial guys are fired up about it (as are quite a few others), so I'm sure they'll keep bringing everyone the latest.

Good to see that they are. However, it is so hit and miss. It would be nice for the felon count to come out like the weather.

Yes. However, the TNT is already obtaining the information each month. Why not put it in a useful form.
