Saturday, March 1st, 5pmJury Art Show at Helm
Local Artists, Cartoonist, PhotographerOn Saturday March 1st The Helm will host a Tacoma juried show featuring work solely made by Tacoma area artists.
R.R. Anderson
Imagination and humour take the forefront in the illustrative world of R.R. Anderson.
Daniel Blue
Discarded packaging materials and oops paint come together to form a floating plastic landscape. Blue’s usual panache will be on display in this unique installation.
Lucy Carpenter
Plastic bags are the medium that Lucy Carpenter has chosen for her large-scale sculptures of human organs. The work serves as a reminder of the unnecessary waste that is currently entering our food chain via plastic-eating sea life.
Terese Cuff
Cuff works with fragmented narrative in a series of twenty-four small oil panels. The paintings ask the viewer to fill the gaps in the story.
Lynn Di Nino
Drawing inspiration from a past trip to Cuba, Di Nino will be showing humorous papier-mache icons of local celebrities that grace our small city.
Kristin Giordano
The only photographer in the show, Giordano uses a Japanese toy camera to capture pictures that are an unlikely combination of bright and quiet.
Maria Jost
Jost combines tree silhouettes and collage to beautifully illustrate the biological connection that all living things share.
Tim Mulligan
Mulligan finds junked wood in the street and combines it in very nicely arranged minimalist assemblage pieces.
James Sinding
A simple phrase hovers off the wall in Sinding’s word-based installation. The work attempts to utilize the direct affect that words have to coax the viewer towards self betterment.
Amy Thomas
Amy will be displaying her first quilt. Painstakingly crafted, the quilt is beautiful.
