Join us as nationally recognized mixed media artist Marie Watt shares the inspiration and techniques behind her work in the exhibition Marie Watt: Lodge (on view June 30–October 7). An artist whose work explores human stories and the rituals implicit in everyday objects, Watt’s art includes portrait blankets of Jim Thorpe, Ira Hays, Susan B. Anthony, and Joseph Beuys; stacked blanket sculptures; and the interactive “Engine,” a cave-like structure that honors the act of storytelling and the storytellers in the artist's life. After the lecture, stay on for a studio workshop with the artist; receive a $5 discount for participation in both programs.
Cost / Admission
$15 ($10 for members, $5 for students).
