"It was the idea that culture in a democracy should be the property of all the people," Eustis says, "regardless of their educational attainment, regardless of their financial status or class status — that everybody had the right to own the best that our culture had to offer. And it's a beautiful vision that still lives."

Great job on a soggy day everyone! Though I love all pieces my vote is to Ariel this week because I took so many shots experiencing her colors slowly running together in the rain.

Great work everyone!

I told Kathy and Katie that if they go on a run and string a few wins together we'd pay to have Andrea come out and end the string!

Sometimes we try to alternate winners at Frost Park.

However, here Kathy & Katie win it by a mile IMO, so a must vote for them.

I really wish I could have been there, instead of a 2 day workshop.

That aside, I'm voting for Adam's melting alien because it's how my brain feels right now.

Since the sun shines down on all of us I vote for Ariel as exemplifying the spirit of the quote...though I love the mt by Joel!

I Love seeing Ariel and her beautiful boy chalking together, and RR and his son (Oh MY! When did he get so big!) What beautiful families!

Joel, I love the mountain and the lenticular clouds! Adam it feels like your alien is limbo-ing under the wetness. Nice use of the elements!

Most of all I love spending time with my daughter Katie and feeling the energy flow between us as we create together. With a bare-bones plan of what to do I love to feel the evolution of our shared drawings. Thank you Katie for being my sunshine and such a bright and shining spirit!

A quick note on the quote. I thought about changing "men" to "our" but wanted to be true to Schumann's original words. I just translate "men" to "humankind" in my mind with the understanding that it was uttered in the early 1800's. (and I do love Schumann)

OK, so all that said...I am voting for Ariel.
She is a chalk warrior for throwing all that color down on the horizontal wetness of the sidewalk. I think that the rain-induced transformation was magical! (Beautiful captures Kevin!)

Thank yous to all that make this happen every week!

OH!!! and TRAVIS! I love your drawings! Thank you for coming to get us to show us what you had created. I love your tree person.

And Gini...very synchronistically we chalked of hearts on different walls out of sight of one another, only revealed at the end. Cool...

Adam today's Alien really shadows how I felt this morning after yesterday, with waking up at 4am for a full day of work followed by a Birthday/Solstice/Housewarming/Paisley Glen gathering in the evening. RR and Max did some great collaborative work; so very eye-catching and so prolific! Kathy and Katie wow, great piece, wonderful use of color and nice lettering. I love how Joel's mountain rests so naturally in the foxglove from last week. Ariel displays the natural knack for color yet again. All considered, Chalk up my vote for Travis. It made me smile, the best treasure a tired person can ask for.

I vote Joel! The mountain made such nice use of last week's art, and it has pink in it.

I have to vote for Ariel & Tracy's excellent use of the weather and the melting colors. It was a difficult choice, though.

Frost Park trivia moment: in season one, a human heart was drawn in the same location that Kathy & Katie picked out to draw their heart-themed piece this week.

Some more very nice work here. I really like Ariel's art with all the pretty melting colors - rather psychedelic! I probably would have voted for that one if I had made it before midnight, although Kathy & Katie's piece is lovely - I like the integration of the quote and the graphic. I also really liked Joel's piece which looks like those flying saucers I've seen hovering over Mt. Rainier. The RR & son kid art was certainly fun & Adam the Alien's piece struck a friendly chord. I also like Gini's blooming heart. If I counted corrrectly, I think that Ariel nosed out Kathy & Katie 8 to 7, but I might have missed a vote in there.
