This week's chalk off is generously sponsored by Dale Chesnut on behalf of the Magic Lantern Society Convention being held here in Tacoma June 21-24! They're offering up two $25 gift certificates to the popcorn and sweet shop along Pacific near the Harmon Great Northwest Popcorn!

AND the Hilltop Artists are adding to this week's 1st prize! A $35 gift card for this Saturday's glass sale! Plus Kathy Anderson herself is working the door and will get the winner immediate entry upon arrival (normally folks have to wait). Awesome! Thanks to them!

That's awesome! I have the reminder card for the Hilltop Artists' Sale. Kathy attended the recent Magic Lantern event at the Pythian Temple, and there weren't many degrees of separation in the whole room. So is it a wide-open theme? Magic Lanterns/Popcorn/Hilltop Glass?

by kathy
on 6/14/2012 @ 11:09pm
This is going to be FUN!

First off, HHHHoly Cow, Kathy and Katie! That's awesome!
Joel, Thorax, awesome! Debivans, Galactus is so rad! Mark's shadowed cats are cool. I love Gini's too...

But, I vote RR today. Interactive and gorgeous.

I have to VOTE for RR and his neat use of the space in projecting his vintage magic lantern image!
But WOW, works by Katie and Kathy, Joel’s Frank Lloyd Wright-looking window, Gini’s “Motion,” MM’a shadows, gotta love Rocky… Great to see so much participation!

by NineInchNachos
on 6/15/2012 @ 2:02pm

Extremely tough call this time around. I love the Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass, Al's LeMay slugmonster, and of course that hummingbird scene with the foxglove, but I'm going have to go and vote for RR again. (Art involving steam dirigibles in some fashion will always win me over.)

Fox gloves are the purple/pink flowers that we drew. Native wildflowers that are beautiful, but toxic.

Wow! Really good chalkin' out there today. I liked Al's Lemay worm monster. Ariel's T-Town is cool and Gini's "In Motion!" really moves. Joel window causes me no pane, ha. RR's is super good use of the theme and great execution. My VOTE goes to Katie & Kathy's piece, it is just stunning.

Awesome pics Darkain and Abby! I loved RR's magic lantern and Mark's dark kitties throwing light shadows was fantastic! The colors in Ariel and Katie/Kathy's pieces were just great and Joel and newcomer Al really brought it.

My vote this week goes to Al mostly because he did a fantastic job for his first time out and I love all the Tacoma bits he tied in there.

Great job everyone and see you next week!

Wow! What great pieces today. With all of the great work, I find myself especially smitten by the hummingbird and foxglove. Therefore, I vote for Katie and Kathy.

I love R.R.'s creativity but knowing how hard it can be to work with someone else (esp Mother & Daughter) I'm going to vote for Kathy&Katie, and I love the composition , layout & colors on a fine spring day.

RR, so nice to see you at the glass sale! I am happy that you found something that you liked. I really loved your piece this week. Great concept beautifully rendered! (You got MY vote!)

Thanks so much to everyone who voted for Katie and me. You have definitely sparked her creativity. Immediately after completing it she asked me if we could do it again next week. :)
I love creating things with my daughter, and any excuse to spend time together is a wonderful thing. We both enjoyed hanging out at Frost Park with ALL of you! Thanks!
