Long Way Home + Nine By Three Book Talk

Join Flora Wong ,author of Long Way Home: Journeys of a Chinese Montanan, with Tom Decker and Beverly Conner, co-author of the short story compilation Nine by Three, as they read from and talk about their work.

In Long Way Home, Flora Wong chronicles her amazing life. Born in Boston in 1928, Flora's family moved back to China in 1936. The family faced a new China, with the Community Party, the Japanese invasion, and WWII. In 1947, at age 18, Flora found out she had an arranged marriage that would take her to the safety of Helena, Montana. In 1948, she immigrated to start a new life as a wife, mother, business owner, and athlete.

Nine by Three is the inaugural release of the University of Puget Sound's Collins Press! The book collects short stories from Beverly Conner, Hans Ostrom, and Ann Putnam. Beverly Conner’s work has appeared in the collections Private Voices, Public Lives; Women Writing on the Literary Life and Colors of a Different Horse. An instructor in English at UPS, she is the recipient of two fellowships at the Hedgebrook Writers Colony and is currently at work on her second novel.
