Food Justice & Youth Discussion Pannel

Come learn from four local experts who are working to ensure that Pierce County’s youth receive access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food. Panelists include Dean Jackson founder of Hilltop Urban Gardens, James Harper of the Youth Programs at St. Leo’s Food Connection, Julia Martin Lombardi of McCarver Elementary and Castings Program, and Dr. Monica Dixon of Healthy Communities of Pierce County. The panel discussion will be mediated by Dr. Emelie Peine, professor of International Political Economy at the University of Puget Sound. We hope you enjoy this discussion as we work to conceptualize food through the lens of justice and equity. This event is hosted by the Tacoma/Pierce County Community Garden Program, Pierce County Gleaning Project, and the University of Puget Sound Sustainability Advisory Committee. Hope to see you there!
