Chain Making Workshops - Because such a short list of simple hand tools is required to make a very diverse selection of patterns, chain making is an ideal, and relatively portable, activity to continue enjoying long beyond the close of the class. Students are encouraged to bring favorite beads to incorporate into their work. No experience necessary. Moderate patience and hand-eye coordination is necessary. Please bring reading glasses if you need help to see clearly within 8"-10" of your nose.

11am – 2pm $35
Learn to Spool Knit Chain from fine silver wire into a tube using a wooden "spool" and a crochet hook. You will make your own simple fastening mechanisms to finish one bracelet. Wooden knitting spool will be yours to keep at the end of class. Please bring one stainless steel crochet hook with you (any size between 1-5, which is 2mm - 1.7mm). If you wish to fill your knitted chain with beads or pearls, bring ones that are no larger than 4.5mm in diameter. All other materials will be provided. It is not necessary to have taken any other chain making class. Materials fee $30 payable to instructor at start of class. Materials fee subject to change due to metal price fluctuations. Turn sterling silver jump rings into a lovely pair of Persian Chain earrings. Create your own ear wires, and learn wire-wrapping techniques to adorn your earrings with beads. Please bring a few favorite beads with you to class, all other materials will be provided. It is not necessary to have taken any other chain making class.
