Book Talk with Jen Marlowe

Join us for an evening with local author and filmmaker Jen Marlowe, who co-wrote The Hour of Sunlight: One Palestinian's Journey from Prisoner to Peacemaker with Sami Al Jundi. The book follows Al Jundi's experiences growing up in Palestine with one ambition: to help overthrow the Israeli occupation. As a teenager, he began building a bomb to use against the Israeli police. When it exploded prematurely, killing one of his friends, Al Jundi was sentenced to ten years in prison. It was here, unexpectedly, that ideas about nonviolence first took root and changed the course of his battle forever.

In addition to sharing Sami's extraordinary life journey, co-author Marlowe will discuss how and why his memoir was born, and the process of diving deeply into someone's story in order to bring it to light for a larger audience.

The book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
