Cave Paper Covers & Decorative Stitches

Series I

Join this class taught by Mitzi Lindgren. The class will use Cave Paper, a beautiful and durable handmade flax paper for covers and colorful waxed linen thread for sewing. Participants will create sample 'sewing cards' to learn the decorative spine stitch patterns that then will be used to make a sampler of three single section books. This structure works well for calligraphers, writers and visual artists looking for a simple binding with fewer pages. All materials and supplies included. The $60 fee covers a $45 class fee and a $15 materials fee. Please pre-register with Mitzi as class size is limited.

Mitzi Lindgren is a bookbinder, letterpress printer, and artist. She combines her love of bookbinding, printing and surface design to create one of a kind artist books as well as edition bindings. She was recently a presenter, teaching bookbinding as a part of the Pierce County READS 2010 program. Her work has been shown in both juried and invitational exhibits throughout the Northwest and has been published in "The Art & Craft of Handmade Books."
