Furballs and Facebook: Helping Our Friends at the Humane Society

The holiday season has arrived, and with it the season of giving. Nonprofit organizations work tirelessly year-round to help those less fortunate, and all could use a little help during this busy time of year. How can social media help these groups be more effective in their efforts? We chose one group to find out, and it involves kittens and puppies.

Join us from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County as we hold a working session to bring our savvy into one room. We will brainstorm ideas and collectively help the organization take its 2012 social media plan to the next level.
Admission to this event is free, but please bring a can or few of cat or dog food, some pet treats, toys or cat litter to help benefit the shelter animals. Our friends at JayRay will be sponsoring this event and are providing food and drink to allow us to get merry. Festive holiday attire and bad Christmas sweaters are highly recommended. We'll also get the chance to meet some wonderful dogs and cats currently at the Humane Society.

Though this will primarily be a working Tweetup, we'll allow for time to network and meet colleagues who also work and/or enjoy participating in social media.

Social Media Club Tacoma aims to get locals together to share, learn and build relationships and all are welcome - no matter how new or seasoned you are to the world of social media.
