Gleaning Book Club

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the holiday weekend, the Gleaning Book Club will meet on Wednesday this month.

Come to the Bounty of the County Gleaning Discussion Group, organized by the Pierce County Gleaning Project! Gleaning is the act of collecting surplus food after harvest from farms, gardens, and orchards. The group will read books, watch documentaries, share skills, talk about issues around gleaning, and have fun! This month's book is The Town that Food Saved by Ben Hewitt, available at King's Books. They usually meet the first Tuesday of every month at King's Books. Please RSVP to Ellen via email or call 253.584.1040 if you're interested! To view books previously read, click here.

Pierce County Gleaning Project organizes volunteers to harvest produce from local farms and fruit trees for local food banks. With more than 140,000 individuals seeking food assistance each month in Pierce County, this is a vital service to get fresh produce in the hands of those in need.
