Chairmen of WA Democratic & Republican Parties to Speak in Tacoma

Washington Democratic and Republican Party Chairs to Discuss the State of Politics in Washington

TACOMA, Washington – April 27, 2011 – Join the City Club of Tacoma ( on Wednesday, May 4, as it hosts Dwight Pelz, Chairman of the Washington State Democratic Party, and Kirby Wilbur, Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party.

The chairmen will be addressing the past, present and future of Washington State politics. Peter Callaghan of the Tacoma News Tribune will moderate the discussion.

The meeting will be held at the Tacoma Art Museum, located at 1701 Pacific Avenue. A wine reception starts at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:45. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and end by 8:15.

All members of the public are welcome to attend this meeting. The cost is $30 for general admission, $27 for guests of members and $22 for City Club members. The cost includes the program, dinner and parking. Free parking is available in the TAM lot.

About Dwight Pelz
In 1996, Pelz was appointed to take Ron Sims' vacated seat on the King County Council, representing South Seattle. He was elected in 1997 and re-elected for a second term in 2001. He became a recognized leader in the areas of transit and transportation, growth management, the environment, human services and civil rights. He served on the Sound Transit Board and led the fight for the East Lake Sammamish Trail. Pelz was elected Chair of the Washington State Democratic Party in January 2006 and has been re-elected since.

About Kirby Wilbur
Wilbur has been involved in politics for over 35 years. He has served in numerous volunteer and leadership positions, including serving as state chair of the Young Republicans, four times as a delegate to the Republican National Convention, chairing three state Republican conventions, serving as a PCO and a District Chair and travelling around the state to speak at various Republican functions. On January 22, 2011, Wilbur was elected to serve a two year term as Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party.
