Frost Park Chalk Off

Season 4, Episode 13

Come down to Frost Park and get your chalk off on! This weekly community art-in-action is open to all who want to chalk, snap photos, or just come by to enjoy their lunch and meet other Tacoma-types.

This week we're happy to have Tacoma Hempfest as our sponsor. They're offering up a $20 Dorky's gift certificate, a $30 Amocat Cafe gift certificate, and a 3.5 lbs sampler of Green Cup Coffee roasted by Valhalla. Thanks to them for their generous support!

I am going to need a ride if I am going to make it down there. Anyone going my way? (And by going my way I mean from Pine and Center in the Nalley Valley to downtown and back in a vehicle with two or more seats.)

you pick up the tour map at GardenSphere at 3310 N. Proctor. It runs from 10-4 and there are 9 coops on the tour. The tour is open house style and you can visit the coops in any order you like. If you visit all 9 coops make sure you get the tour hosts to stamp your map and if you get 9 stamps on the map bring it back to the store for 15% off your initial chick setup (feed not included).

Lisa's coop is #9 on the map (just to promote her coop)!

I vote for Stowe.

(Sorry, Mark. As good as your Tiki is, I simply cannot condone illegal drug use.)

by cisserosmiley

i checked the files...groovy tiki has a medical condition which makes said drug use legal

I love both Stowe's and Mark's entries, but I've decided to cast my vote for Stowe. There's so much depth to this "Portal" reference - it's just striking.

I wanted you all to see a larger image of my Groovy Tiki.

I was inspired to draw "Groovy Tiki" because our sponsor this week is Tacoma Hempest. And when I saw that part of the prize was a gift certificate to Dorky's (a place I love), I timed traveled back to 1980 and thought off all those 70's t-shirt designs and I thought to myself, "Groovy." And the immediately this image formed in my head and I just had to get it down.

Here are more photos of today's event:

Chalk up a vote for Thorax! I love Stowe's, the piece is just so eye catching. But Thorax made me laugh. The terrifying creature that the modern bovine was bred from always amuses me.

I'm going to vote for my Groovy Tiki - because it made a little boy and his father laugh when they walked by, and because I truly covet them gift cards.
Larry Erhardt and James Stowe
Mock me all you want! Those gift cards shall be mine!

troysworktable... Kyra can vote for herself is she wants. There is no rule against it. And that octopus is super cute and totally worth a vote. In fact, Since Kyra voted for my portal I'll do her a solid and vote for her octopus.

I vote for Kyra.

I know nothing about Portal other than it exists and Stowe's son beat the game this morning, but the depth on that drawing is just amazing.
