Long Stitch Journal Class

Join us for this series of bookbinding classes. This class is a beginner class, but can also be tailored to intermediate students. Whether you are new to bookbinding or have some basic bookbinding experience, this book structure is an excellent foundation for binders and artists alike. Learn cutting, folding and sewing techniques to create a soft cover long stitch journal with a decorative sewing pattern on the spine. Some bookbinding experience is helpful, but not necessary. We will also discuss various papers, materials and sewing patterns. The $55 Fee covers a $45 Class Fee and a $10 Materials Fee. Please pre-register with Mitzi Lindgren at as class size is extremely limited.

This class will be followed by the March 12 class, which is an intermediate/advanced class building on the techniques learned in the first class. The class can be tailored to more advanced students, as needed.

Mitzi Lindgren is a bookbinder, letterpress printer, and artist. She combines her love of bookbinding, printing and surface design to create one of a kind artist books as well as edition bindings. Mitzi teaches bookbinding classes at various locations, including Green River Community College and the Arts Alive Gallery in Enumclaw. She was recently a presenter, teaching bookbinding as a part of the Pierce County READS 2010 program. Her work has been shown in both juried and invitational exhibits throughout the Northwest and has been published in "The Art & Craft of Handmade Books."
