Warehouse and logistics training available

Free program for those who qualify includes job experience, certifications

Informational meetings for a warehouse and logistics training program will take place in February at several Tacoma locations for eligible participants.

The locations are: Tacoma Goodwill’s Milgard Work Opportunity Center, 714 S. 27th St., all times 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Feb. 2, Feb. 4 and Feb. 25; Tacoma Community House, 1314 S. L St., Feb. 16, 3-4:30 p.m., Room 33; Tacoma Community College, 6501 S. 19th St., Tacoma, Feb. 23, 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m., Building 29, Room 107. The Career Pipeline Project, a partnership of Tacoma Community College and Goodwill and funded through a federal grant, provides the opportunity to receive a Warehouse Clerk Certificate with knowledge of shipping/receiving, packing, assembly and safe-material handling; forklift operator certification; and 12 college credits in logistics, math and computer use in a classroom setting. Classes will be held daily March 28-June 10 at the Milgard Center. Space is limited.

Participants must be able move 50 pounds and meet certain income requirements (discussed at the meetings); be at least age 18; unemployed or looking for career advancement; and be able to read at a high school level. Veterans are highly encouraged to attend.
