Saturday, December 4th, 11am 4pmA Grand Day Out
A Victorian-Edwardian-Steampunk-Chappist Picnic in the ParkThis is an open call to all Victoriamaniacs, Edwardiots, Chaps, Chapettes, and yes -even Steampunks in the area. The theme is simply a Grand Day Out from the Asylum, meaning that we will be assuming the role of mental patients from the period, in varying degrees of depravity (but that is no excuse not to dress for the occassion, of course). We also have room for those wishing to attend as hospital staff or constable from your preferred period. (Butterfly nets are an appropriate accessory.) As this is a no-fee unsanctioned event, you are responsible to bring your own picnic lunch and appropriate lawn games, if desired. The event will run until the coming of general darkness, which should be about 4 PM this time of year.
We will meet in the general vicinity of the Seymour Botanical Conservatory at 11 AM, which by some coincidence, will be holding its annual Victorian Christmas event at the same time.
Attendance is FREE (as this is essentially a familiy picnic, after all), and there will be PRIZES in many categories (some of which are posted at http://vmsde.xanga.com)

by NineInchNachos on 11/12/2010 @ 3:50pm | I would like to use my east german great coat and left over FUN FUR to make a tall-hat costume like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIWMWCcpO_Y |
by The Jinxmedic on 11/12/2010 @ 4:06pm | Most excellent, sir. Your presence will be quite welcome at this affair. Have you any lawn games, perchance? |
by Thorax O'Tool on 11/12/2010 @ 6:43pm | You're in luck! On the 4th, I work nights and live within walking distance of Wright.

by Thorax O'Tool on 11/24/2010 @ 2:33pm | Though, having the Grand Day Out in the snow would add a certain "Dickensian" quality to the event. |
by The Jinxmedic on 11/24/2010 @ 3:45pm | Perhaps we need to rent some street urchins like in that old "SNL" sketch? |
by The Jinxmedic on 12/4/2010 @ 8:09am | So, who is bringing the badger? Cannot have a proper badger hunt without said badger... |
by NineInchNachos on 12/4/2010 @ 8:33am | I have made a fur hat tall enough to hide a badger inside |
by The Jinxmedic on 12/4/2010 @ 7:50pm | It seems that you may have been able to conceal several badgers inside that hat. Good show, sir!

by Thorax O'Tool on 12/6/2010 @ 12:02pm | Aye, really sorry I was unable to attend.
I rather dislike it when my schedule gets changed... But just by looking at these pictures, it seems this NEEDS to become an annual event. Seriously. |
by The Jinxmedic on 12/6/2010 @ 2:00pm | There will be more to come. You shall be welcome at any of them. |
