Heavy Metal in Baghdad Film Showing

Veterans For Peace will show 'Heavy Metal in Baghdad' (2007). This documentary follows the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda from the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 to the present day. As Iraq disintegrated around them, Acrassicauda struggled to stay together and stay alive, refusing to let their heavy metal dreams die. Their story echoes the unspoken hopes of an entire generation of young Iraqis.

Veterans For Peace is a national organization with chapters around the country, including Tacoma. They draw on their personal experiences and perspective gained as veterans to raise public awareness of the true costs and consequences of militarism and war - and to seek, and encourage, the search for peaceful, effective alternatives to war.
