Selfish vote. I vote for Captain America.

But nice work to Laser cat and hopscotch girl.

I love Mark's last couple of pieces of "trompe l' chalke", but I vote for Kendra and the hopscotch grrrl. (Excellent use of more than one plane.)

by Leischen
on 7/2/2010 @ 3:13pm
Some really awesome chalking today. Em's pregnant mermaid, Mark's manhole, a really great Captain America, but I vot for Kendra and her little hopscotch girl. Nice work everyone!

by Mark Monlux
on 7/2/2010 @ 3:21pm
The detail on Captain America's face is quite good. But I really liked Kendra's hopscotch girl.

I vote for Kendra.

Vote for NineInchNachos although AMB's drawing is great. Thanks RR!.wonderful job.

Altered Chords RJH is incarcerated for old charges (the ones where he had a toy gun at the County City Building) and punished again for the same thing the 3rd or 4th time so far (I am guessing the 4th punishment)..
Also he is spending another 30 days for disturbing a Official Public Meeting and 28 days for Criminal Trespass (Probably another persecution for daring to go to a city council meeting and speaking).

by NineInchNachos
on 7/2/2010 @ 3:46pm
JHF, my good friend Matt Driscoll of the Weekly Volcano told me a story about RJH and a colleague showing up at Volcano HQ to purchase an ad in connection with his group's effort to save the Lusty Lady. Ad was paid for in gold coins. Once the owners found out the ad was pulled for the horrifying nature of the ad's content.

Captain America is top notch. The hopscotch girl is REALLY good. Tough call. I am going to bend to the holiday weekend and vote:

Captain America

by tacomachickadee
on 7/2/2010 @ 4:32pm
Captain America's amazing detail, Mark's magnificent "manhole", Stuart's great adventure and Adam the Alien's festive farce were all amazing ... but I'm a sucker for fantastic art that pops AND uses the surfaces creatively ... so I still vote for Kendra's hopscotch girl. :)

on 7/2/2010 @ 4:34pm
Great work!

I salute Capt'n America, wonder who is going to come out of Mark's hole, and love the flexible alien ... but I gotta agree with tacomachickadee ...

I vote for Kendra.

by Jesse

I vote for hop scotch girl... Kendra.

Yeah I think I vote for Kendra, it's just too cool. I do love Captain America though, very nice work.

by L.S.Erhardt
on 7/2/2010 @ 5:09pm
The Captain America kicks so much ass. Maybe even enough to defeat Laser Death Cat.
...or not. We need a battle!!

I vote for Captain America!

by Fraz
on 7/2/2010 @ 5:11pm
I vote for Andrea's Death Cat. Life is so much better when it's covered in bees.

by thriceallamerican
on 7/2/2010 @ 6:01pm
There ya go, Fraz. C'mon people. It's a death cat. With freakin' lasers!!! Only 2 votes?

by KevinFreitas
on 7/2/2010 @ 6:22pm
Crap! So much goodness. Cap'n America was a large-scale looker, Thorax's carrot 'n flag piece popped, Mark reigns supreme with the 3D, all the kids did some great stuff especially Raven (really beautiful cupcake!), Kendra's hop scotch girl is whimsical and stunning (especially since she made her own red and yellow chalk!), and Stuart's work was just serene. I love Anique's very not fail whale and was excited to contribute to the idea behind Em's mermaid (by suggesting the preggers part). RR rocked his RTH work and I totally love lazer death cat. And Brian's hidden piece.

Wowza, I don't know where my vote shall go... I gotta vote Stuart based on sheer reaction. When I saw it I was actually calmed by his work. Fantastic job and thanks for everyone lending their time and talent to brightening this little corner of Tacoma every week!

RR tried to pluck my heartstrings, but hopscotch girl gets my vote!

by NineInchNachos
on 7/2/2010 @ 8:15pm
I'm really having a tough time. The Cap' looks really bad ass. but there's just something about the multi-plane hopscotch girl. She looks self aware like "How am I going to get off this wall to hopscotch across the 3rd dimension?"

I vote Kendra!

by FireFlyNexes
on 7/2/2010 @ 8:17pm
I vote for Kendra's Hopscotch Girl.

Wow! Look at all the beauty! Pure art. Temporary masterpiece offerings left on the Frost Park alter to the Grit City gods.

My VOTE is sacrificed to Kendra's hopscotch piece. So creative.

by Nelsonman
on 7/2/2010 @ 10:29pm
For shear ambition, color, and impact, Captain America gets my vote. Very close on the hopscotch girl though!

by Adam the Alien
on 7/2/2010 @ 10:34pm
I'm honestly torn between my fellow Adam and my roommate Kendra. Both have produced fantastic pieces...but...but...WHO DO I VOTE FOR?

by marumaruyopparai
on 7/2/2010 @ 11:04pm
I vote for RR's unlawful political imprisonment chalk art.

by ALT
on 7/2/2010 @ 11:08pm
Tough call this week! I really like the Captain America piece, but I'm casting my VOTE for Kendra's Little Girl with Hop-Scotch Gold Fish.

by Adam the Alien
on 7/2/2010 @ 11:54pm
Despite Kendra's somewhat 3D drawing, I'm going to have to go with my fellow Adam and my Marvel Comics soft spot. I vote for Captain America. In the future, Kendra, you'll have my vote with an awesome Lizzie like that,'s Captain America.

by tacomachickadee
on 7/3/2010 @ 9:27am
Sure sure ... make the girl with the broken ankle count ... pain pills may have added one here or there, but I am confident in my findings of Kendra as the runaway no doubt winner this week! Awesome work everyone!

Kendra's hopscotch Lizzie: 15
AMB's Captain America: 6
Stuart's hot air balloon: 2
Andrea C's laser cat: 2
RR's RJH: 2
Katie's self-portrait: 1

And a vote for Brian's awesome but pre-contest-drawn troll.

by NineInchNachos
on 7/3/2010 @ 9:40am
Hi Kendra! congrats!!! No official sponsored prize this week, but I have an "autographed" Norman Mailer novel as a substitute prize if you want it.

by Dave_L
on 7/3/2010 @ 10:36am
I like how summer brings out so many new participants, young and old. I didn't have it together enough to vote in time, but feel better that Kendra's "Hopscotch Girl" won. Would have been my vote. Andrea's Laser-Cat speaks volumes to me. I like Monlux's portal into Tacoma's tunnels, something people associated with other Tacoma blogs are in complete denial about...;-) . I like the location Brian chose. New ways to utilize the park space are still being discovered.

by KevinFreitas
on 7/3/2010 @ 11:14am
Thanks for counting everything up @tacomachickadee and congrats to Kendra. I totally echo what @Dave_L said -- all are welcome to come chalk and that shows with all the new participants. Tell your friends and we'll see everyone next week!

Only crazies listen to AM radio anyways (and believe what they're saying). A perfect audience for the Traveler!

by JesseHillFan
on 7/6/2010 @ 6:35am
I think that the traveler should put up a youtube page with his rants or whatever is on his mind.
At least the city council couldn't persecute him for trespassing.
By the way he has an enormous court history.
Check this out.Just enter his name on a name search.

Thats a great link JHFan. However when you search for Jesse Hill you get like 17 different people. Which one is he?

by JesseHillFan
on 7/6/2010 @ 9:01am
Jesse is his middle name. His full name is Robert Jesse Hill (the famous traveler or traveller (with British spelling)).I see 66 court cases wow.
