This could affect my vote: Thorax, there is something chalk like on the sidewalk below your drawing. Is that part of the drawing? Does anyone have a better pic of it?

by JesseHillFan

VOTE Stuart but all of those works were great.Wait not just great but incredible.

by The Jinxmedic
on 6/18/2010 @ 3:31pm
Thorax's piece was so awesome, it looked like it could have been a permanent installation on that wall.

regarding all the people that took the extra effort to adhere to the fairly loose Doubloon/Pirate/Pre-Columbian Loot theme, Debivans' Kukulkan/Quezacotl/Yaxchilan piece stood out as veritably dripping in meso-american lootable goodness (and quite possibly, dripping with digestive juices as well, in light of the subject's mastication of the chalk artist himself).

Therefore, I vote for Debivans.

Yeah, I am contractually obligated to vote for Kendra, but -WOW! What a lot of great art today!

Also, Stuart's piece makes more sense with the legend: "Surrender the "Bootie?"

Now that I can see the pics all together, I'm going to have to vote for Debivans. Makes me want to listen to world music and trudge through some moist underbrush.

I IN NO WAY VOTE FOR ANDREA! I see her with those amazing shiny coin effects... but not falling for it this time!

Man, they all turned out so gorgeous this week. Kinda sad I couldn't wake myself up.

Hmm, if I can only pick one...I'm going to have to go for Stuart's. Though Adam, Thorax, Raven, and Andrea's all popped out at me as well, as far as theme went. :)

by droid116

Great stuff. Lots of entries which is great.

I vote for Debivans

by L.S.Erhardt
on 6/18/2010 @ 4:56pm
Since when have we really kept to the theme that well? Somebody always has to break away from it ;)
Besides, mine is as rich as gold bullion.
...and yes, I did scrub it yesterday in anticipation of this piece.

Good showing this week, kudos to Argh Argh's treasure chest of chalk, Stuart's pirate scene and Adam's Alien. BTW, that's the best looking alien I've seen you do yet.

When it comes down to it, I want those coins, dammit!
I doth vote for myself.

@AC: there's dust below the drawing. Much, MUCH chalk dust.

One of Adam's best works ever.

Stowe once again outperforms.

Andrea shows no mercy in dominating Frost Park this year.

However, for the masterpiece chalked by Thorax!

I vote Thorax!

by Earthdaughter

Sorry I missed it. These are, once again, amazing pieces.

I love the way the river spirit flows down the steps.
Thorax's work is vibrant.
Adam's Alien in purple truly swashbuckily!
And debivans design is captivating.
Kendra's doll is great too.

But I love the story detail in Stuart's piece so that one has my vote.

by KevinFreitas
on 6/18/2010 @ 8:32pm
Seriously fantastic stuff. Love Anique's serpent and Adam's Alien is by far his best yet. Really awesome motion in that long coat and great perspective with the sword. Seriously nice work Adam!

Very whimsical stuff Kendra (and daughter), beautiful mural Thorax, and I love Debivans' and RR's working in of the chalk in their pieces. Stowe's popsicle looks positively delish and Andrea's doubloon-grabbing fist is sold awesomeness. But, I also have to go with young Barrett because his piece first started as a multi-colored treat then later magically transformed into robot form. Hence, I vote Barrett!

Really great art out there today everyone. You brighten Tacoma every week with your talent!

by ALT

Fantastic entries all. Some fierce competition - but that seems to be a trend lately. I am totally torn between Debivan's awesome, ancient Aztec chalkie and Stowe's trend-breaking popsicle.

Taking a few minutes...

Alright. I VOTE for Stowe's eye-popping popsicle. I love those softly blended colors!

by debivans
on 6/18/2010 @ 10:51pm
Wow, look at all these voters! Everyone chalked their booty off today hoping to win some booty.

I really liked Anique's stair dragon, great use of the stairs. Stowe's popsicle makes me want to lick the sidewalk. Stuart's piece is a treasure that's not little at all. I really like Kendra's surreal Treefish, very cute. Treefish, I like that word. Adam the Alien's green swashbuckler is great. That foreshortened arm with the point blank sword makes me feel like I'm at a 3D IMAX film.

I going to VOTE for Thorax's poster piece. TOT's gots something going on there. I really like the green leaves. Yep, sometimes it's something simple that does it. Grean leeves.

by TacomaGnome

Green and purple match so well... Also, I'm in team pirate...
Therefore, I VOTE for ADAM THE ALIEN. He is just awesome...

Also, I would like to ask him to marry me... but that would be a creepy thing to do... So I'll just vote and say nothing else.

by Adam the Alien
on 6/19/2010 @ 12:00am
Not sure if anyone caught it, as I set it uploading and then left for Oregon (and thus couldn't properly publicize it), but the video from today's chalk-off can be found here:

by Adam the Alien
on 6/19/2010 @ 12:14am
Captain Adam the Alien- 17
Debivans - 10 (if you count the slightly confusing "We (Arianna and I)" vote by Altered Chords as two votes; otherwise, 9)
Thorax - 5
Stuart - 5
R.R. - 2
Stowe - 2
Kendra - 1
Electric Elliot - 1
Barrett - 1
Raven - 1

Feel free to check my results, but even in my sleepy, admittedly biased state, I'm pretty sure my lead is not an error. Therefore, The Alien claims the booty! YAR!

by badhairs
on 6/19/2010 @ 12:21am
Aw, Jeez! Does this mean Thorax and I have to go to the Thunderdome for third?

by debivans
on 6/19/2010 @ 12:34am
Congrats, ATA! Enjoy your bootylicious prize. Well done sir. One correction: I believe Barrett received 2 votes. Father & son tie!

by Adam the Alien
on 6/19/2010 @ 12:39am
You are correct, sir! I accidentally let one of Barrett's votes slip into RR's count as I was marking off votes in Notepad.

Barrett - 2
R.R. - 1

I vote for Monlux.

Woo and Hoo.

so sad.

If you are just checking in this Saturday, June 19th, come on down to Comic Book Ink (72nd and Portland) where Stowe and myself will be signing along with other Local Heroes various goodies and merch from 2 to 5pm.
