Small Business Forum Hosted by Cong. Adam Smith

Congressman Smith Announces Small Business Forum

Congressman Adam Smith will be holding the 9th Congressional District 2010 Small Business Forum. This event is intended to provide small business owners and operators with access to federal, state and non-governmental groups that can help small businesses succeed. Along with Congressman Smith, attending will be the Region 10 Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, Calvin Goings.

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. with welcome remarks by Congressman Smith, Administrator Goings, and other invited guests from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Immediately following the presentation there will be 15-minute break-out sessions with agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Commerce, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, and Department of Defense, among others. Invited federal agencies will also have information available on grants and procurement opportunities. Additional information for small businesses to assist their employees will be available from entities such as Goodwill Industries and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Aside from the breakout sessions, there will also be over 20 federal agencies on hand to offer information on federal programs helping small businesses work with the government, navigate federal rules and regulations or apply for federal resources. Invited agency representatives from the Economic Development Administration (EDA), Washington State Employment Security, Internal Revenue Service, and the General Services Administration will also be present to answer questions about what programs and tools they offer to local small businesses.

A full itinerary of participants and the timing for breakout sessions will be provided closer to the event date. To receive this itinerary, and to RSVP, please take a moment to send an email or call the phone number listed below.
