'The March of the Bonus Army' Film Showing

Veterans For Peace will show the documentary 'The March of the Bonus Army'. In 1932, in the darkest days of the Depression, unemployed World War I veterans marched on Washington, D.C. looking for an advance on the bonus compensation promised to them years earlier. After camping throughout Washington for two months, the veterans were driven out by force. By the time the clashes were over, two marchers and two children were dead, and the Bonus Army incident had become a political liability for President Hebert Hoover.

Veterans For Peace is a national organization with chapters around the country, including Tacoma. They draw on their personal experiences and perspective gained as veterans to raise public awareness of the true costs and consequences of militarism and war - and to seek, and encourage, the search for peaceful, effective alternatives to war.
