I think for the ICE CREAM Prize, Jeff should pick :) You know.. you have to be present to win kind of thing. That way if we have people who drop by and draw they can possible win something on site?

Good idea joel, you should ask Jeff to see what he thinks today.

About 1:15, the Parking Garage Manager came out and asked if we'd clean Brian's art off the fountain in the next 30 minutes.
Seems someone from the City Manager's office called and told him to clean the Graffiti off the garage immediately.

He was going to call back and tell him it was on the fountain in park and was apart of our event. He said if he "got through to them" he wouldn't was it off, or have it done later so that people could see it before it was taken off.

Call out the HOUNDS!!

Really had a great time down at the park today. After three years it still remains one of the highlights of my week. Great to see everyone too. Wish I had gotten some icecream... it was hot down on that sidewalk.

Can't wait to see the pictures.

I vote for Thorax, both categories for all prizes- Baseball tickets, Ice Cream, and Dead Things Found on the Side of the Road (the O&J guest prize).

Judges, please note that I used the exact words "I VOTE" for Thorax. Do not short his vote again, or I shall become cross. Grrr.

@ Jinx... glad you like it. I've been compulsively listening to The Crow and the Butterfly by Shinedown for a few days, and had the urge to draw crows.

I hereby VOTE for myself, THORAX O'TOOL.

by MarkMonlux
on 5/14/2010 @ 5:08pm
I vote for RR.

Reason 1: Great incorporation of environment elements.
Reason 2: Robots are cool!

If there was an ice cream award I'd have to give it to Debivans for reminding me were I was 30 years ago when St. Helens blew.
Answer: Izumi-ishi, Kagashima-ken, Japan. I just got home from school (it was a Saturday) and was eating chicken fried rice for lunch.

I want to win, but I cannot in good conscience vote against the valiant leader of the Autobots regardless if there is a plant growing out of his helmet.

I vote for Optimus Prime by RXR Anderson.

Suckered by 80's nostalgia and extremely inventive use of space.

Who was Brian, the guy with the ladder. THAT is ambitious. I vote for that guy.

Great day out at the Chalk Off!

Brian's Chalk Head is cool and he definitely gets a gold star for the ladder and spawning of parking garage controversy (what happened with that?).

My VOTE has to go to RR's Optimus. The use of the Frost Park concrete landscape is a "prime" example of true creative thinking.

by ALT

Seriously good entries this week. Stowe's rendering of RxR is excellent (and a little creepy), Brian's Chalk Head is insane and Monlux's Spring Tiki has got to be the most impressive one of its kind yet. RxR's Optimus Prime was a fantastic and creative use of a planter

Tough decisions, but I've decided to cast my VOTE for RxR's Optimum Planter.

I also vote Debivans for his fantastic Mt. St. Helens tribute. The geo-nerd in me just couldn't go any other way. Great to see Mark's tiki back and Stowe's RR was stellar. Great work up on the ladder though Brian! And everyone, thanks for sharing your art with all of us.

I wasn't able to vote, either, but strong work by all. I know some new New Tacomans living up the street who are looking forward to showing up to participating. I hope on the non-rain weeks someone can continue washing the previous week's work - I can't do it this season either. (Erik: No photo, please.) It would have been my subject had I been able to participate, so I'm glad debivans paid ominous tribute to the anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens, Harry, and one must not forget the nearly 60 other campers, loggers, scientists, and reporters horrifically lost on that day, most not even in the restricted area. I slept through the initial blast, but friends in Tacoma were awaken by it, and I remember that and all the subsequent eruptions, plumes, and ash afterward. Didn't begin to grasp or understand the full impact until years later.

Two tickets each for Brian and R.R.? I guess I'm not allowed to vote.
