A Tacoma Reads Together Event

Join us as six performers with the Rainier Family Opera present scenes from Aaron Copland's opera "The Tender Land" and other songs of farms and food. "The Tender Land" is set on a mid-west family farm during the Great Depression with music inspired by folk songs of the heartland. With themes of harvest, work, love, trust and family, this opera addresses many topics relevant to our modern circumstances. To round out the program, the singers will sing some additional songs about food, farms and barnyard animals. This is a great opportunity to try a little bit of American opera and begin the discussion of food and farms. Cosponsored by the Rainier Family Opera.
